Geography in the News

Case studies are the icing on the cake; the practical applications of theory that prove to the examiner that you know your theory.

Trouble is, year after year students come out with the same old case studies, like old cliches. There's nothing wrong with that but you'd be advised to choose examples from within the past thirty years and try to include recent events, especially when it comes to hazards. We all know you can read the text books (several of which are lacking in detail, accuracy and content) but if you can refer to recent events in your analysis of any aspect of geography you'll stand a much better chance of getting a top grade.

On the following pages you'll find links to recent news items from a geographical perspective plus a brief analysis. If you have any queries please get in touch - sianitysian@yahoo.co.uk.
